Schedule & Format
- Four (4) open water checkout dives total
- Two dives per day over two days
- All skills are reviewed to complete your certification
Included vs. Personal Gear
- Provided: All required life-support and dive gear for training
- Personal gear: mask, snorkel, boots, fins, wetsuit
- We recommend purchasing a wetsuit for comfort and future diving
Referral Students Welcome
- We accept referral students with proper Universal Referral documentation.
Attendance
- Students must attend both days.
Registration Deadline
- Register at least one week prior to your course date.
Enrollment
- Ages 10+
- Registration, medical form, waiver required
- If registering online, forms will be emailed.
- Physician approval may be required.

Meet Your Instructors
This course is taught by instructor Marc Ellis or Jacob Nelson.
Marc has been an instructor since 1994 and has been teaching at Dive & Glide Scuba since 2022. In addition to training divers, he also heads up the organization of our dive club (Mid-Michigan Dive Adventures) meetings and events. Marc is bilingual (he speaks Spanish) and holds multiple diving instructor certifications as a PADI®, SSI®, and SDI/TDI® instructor.
Jacob is an instructor, sales associate, and service technician at Dive & Glide Scuba. His dive training progressed quickly after he earned his first diving certification. He earned his PADI® Open Water Instructor and EFR Instructor certifications in 2020.
