Schedule & Format

Classroom Session: one (1) class session to review dive gear set up, materials, and minor repairs
Pool Session: one (1) pool session is optional (and free) to students who own gear and would like to participate in a skills practice session; date scheduled with instructor during classroom session
Open Water Checkout Dives: two (2) open water dives are optional (and free) to students who would like to participate; date scheduled with instructor during classroom session

Meet Your Instructors

This course is taught by instructor Keith Hintz or Marc Ellis.

Keith is co-owner of Dive & Glide Scuba and has been teaching scuba courses since 1989. He is dedicated to creating safe, confident, and capable divers. In addition to being a SSI® Instructor, Keith is also a NAUI® Instructor.

Marc has been an instructor since 1994 and has been teaching at Dive & Glide Scuba since 2022. In addition to training divers, he also heads up the organization of our dive club (Mid-Michigan Dive Adventures) meetings and events. Marc is bilingual (he speaks Spanish) and holds multiple diving instructor certifications as a PADI®, SSI®, and SDI® Instructor.

Jacob is an instructor, sales associate, and service technician at Dive & Glide Scuba. His dive training progressed quickly after he earned his first diving certification. He earned his PADI® Open Water Instructor and EFR Instructor certifications in 2020.
