Who this is for: Open Water Divers who want to extend their diving season to all seasons.

Schedule & Format

  • eLearning Online (add $164): (self-paced) to build your knowledge
  • Classroom Session: for review of eLearning studies and preparation to dive
  • Pool Session: for practice of skills in preparation for open water dives
  • Open Water Checkout Dives: two (2) open water dives required for certification

Gear Included vs. Personal Gear

  • Provided: drysuit is provided for course use
  • Student's Gear: full set of gear is required to participate, including: mask, snorkel, fins, boots, regulator, octo or alternate air source, dive computer or gauges, BCD, hood, gloves, tanks, weights, dive knife, dive light, surface marker buoy, and pony bottle
  • Rental Gear Available for Class Use: if students do not own all the gear required for class, gear may be rented at a 50% discount off standard rental rates
  • Important Note: it is highly recommended that students use their own gear for this course

Referral Students Welcome

  • Started elsewhere? We accept students with proper paperwork as required by PADI® to continue their education

Attendance

  • To successfully complete this course, students must attend all scheduled classroom and pool sessions, and open water dives

Registration Deadline

  • Register at least one week before your desired class start date to allow for time for completion of eLearning prior to your classroom session

Enrollment

  • Ages 10+
  • Registration, medical form, and waiver required
  • If registering online, forms and eLearning access will be emailed
  • Physician approval may be required based on medical questionnaire

Meet Your Instructors

This course is taught by instructor Marc Ellis or Jacob Nelson.

Marc has been an instructor since 1994 and has been teaching at Dive & Glide Scuba since 2022.  In addition to training divers, he also heads up the organization of our dive club (Mid-Michigan Dive Adventures) meetings and events.  Marc is bilingual (he speaks Spanish) and holds multiple diving instructor certifications as a PADI®, SSI®, and SDI/TDI® instructor

Jacob is an instructor, sales associate, and service technician at Dive & Glide Scuba.  His dive training progressed quickly after he earned his first diving certification.  He earned his PADI® Open Water Instructor and EFR Instructor certifications in 2020.
